FROM THE WIRE
From Cnn.com:
UAE: Hormone treatment for gay men
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (Reuters) -- Men arrested at what a United Arab Emirates official said appeared to be a gay wedding are to be given hormone therapy, officials said on Tuesday.
The U.S. State Department condemned the forced medical treatment of gay couples in the Muslim Gulf Arab state and called on the UAE to comply with international legal standards.
Police raided a hotel earlier this month where 26 homosexuals of Asian, Arab and UAE origin were at a party. At least 12 were dressed in women's clothes and wearing makeup at what an official said appeared to be a wedding celebration.
Colonel Najm al-Sayar told Reuters the foreigners were likely to be deported while the locals, who are being held in the capital Abu Dhabi, would undergo hormonal therapy -- most likely induced testosterone.
"They will be given psychological, medical and sociological treatment. Some of them will be given male hormones because some actually took female hormones," Sayar said.
"This kind of behavior is immoral in our society and so we must address the issue."
Homosexuality is forbidden by law in most Arab states.
In Washington, State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said: "The United States condemns the arrest of a dozen same-sex couples in the United Arab Emirates and a statement by the Interior Ministry spokesman that they will be subjected to government-ordered hormone and psychological treatment.
"The arrest of these individuals is part of a string of recent group arrests of homosexuals in the UAE. We call on the government of the United Arab Emirates to immediately stop any ordered hormone and psychological treatment and to comply with the standards of international law."
This story is so sick and so sad it makes me furious on so many levels. Forced hormone injections?? It's stories like this that remind me that for all our flaws, the Philippines is still a great country to live in (relatively speaking). I love this country, I fucking LOVE it, because there's no way in hell even the most homophobic of us would dream of doing something like this. And it's government-sponsored no less, which makes it even scarier.
My only consolation in this is that the "treatment" is rooted in homophobia and is practically useless. A guy is gay? of course it's because he's lacking in testosterone, because everyone knows gay guys are women in men's bodies. *rolls eyes*
A testosterone shot is only going to make those gay men MORE horny for hot male action, and maybe be a little more AGGRESSIVE in getting the same. And good for them.
Idiots.

HIM: So tell me a little about yourself.
ME: Well, what do you want to know? That's a lot of ground to cover in text form, heheh.
(inner monologue: hmmm, he seems genuinely interested in learning about me. A good sign.)
HIM: In general.... How do you find me?

HOLY CRAP
Eddie Guerrero found dead in hotel room.
I'm in shock. Eddie Guerrero was one of the best wrestlers of his generation; making a name for himself in WCW then becoming a star in WWF/WWE. He was the first Latino wrestler to hold the WWE championship belt, and as a "face" (good guy) or "heel" (bad guy) he was always one of the bright spots in WWE programming. Amazing both in the ring as a wrestler and out of it as a performer, he was one of my all-time favorites.
Rest in peace, Eddie.
